Put Traffic Jams Behind You

Riding a bicycle is a fun, healthy and inexpensive way to get to campus. You don't have to be an Olympic athlete to get to class or work. There are over 2,900 free bike parking spaces in racks all over campus.

Rent a Bike from the UCLA Bike Library

Need a bike for a few months? UCLA students can rent bicycles from the Bike Library for only $50 per quarter. Please contact the UCLA Bike Shop to rent your bike today.

Safety First

Since you'll ride on busy streets alongside vehicles, it's important to always wear a bicycle helmet. It's also critical to keep your bike locked at all times. UCPD reports that most stolen bikes weren't locked. To protect the safety of both pedestrians and bicyclists and maintain consistency with the 2006 UCLA Bicycle Master Plan, UCLA has established a Dismount Zone policy in Bruin Plaza, Bruin Walkway, and the Parking Structure 8 Corridor from Westwood Plaza to Gayley Ave. Signage has been posted and bicycles, skateboards, roller blades and scooters must be dismounted and walked through these designated areas. UCLA Police are authorized to issue tickets, starting at $202, for those who continue to violate the Dismount Zone Policy.

Convenience a Close Second

Find the fastest, easiest route to campus using Google Maps, which now features bicycle route planning. Please note that Google bicycle directions are in beta. Once you're on campus, the UCLA Recreation Center has showers and locker facilities available to cycling students. Students automatically have access to these facilities by presenting their valid BruinCard. Staff and faculty can gain access by obtaining a Recreation Card or by purchasing a "Commuter Passport," which allows access to shower and locker facilities only, for a nominal fee. For more information, please call the John Wooden Center.
