Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations are available on campus as part of the ChargePoint Network. Level 1 and Level 2 charges are both $2/hour.
Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations are now available in Parking Structure (PS) 1, PS 5, PS 9 and PS 32 for the UCLA community and visitors for "top-off" charging. These chargers are a part of the ChargePoint Network and offer both Level 1 and Level 2 chargers.
- Parking Structure 1 (map): Two EV charging stations are located in the “Staff Parking” section of the structure near the entrance/exit ramps. One EV charger is also available in the “Visitor Parking” section.
- Parking Structure 5 (map): Two EV charging stations are located on level 6 (roof level) in the southwest corner of the structure.
- Parking Structure 9 (map): Two EV charging stations are located on level 3 (ground level from Strathmore Place entrance) in the northwest corner of the structure.
- Parking Structure 32 (map): Two EV charging stations are located on the ramp between the first and second levels at the northeast corner of the structure.
- Parking Structure SV (map): Two EV charging stations are located on P 1 (top level) in the northeast corner of the structure.
Charging Fee: $2
Both Level 1 and Level 2 charges are $2 an hour. Payment is assessed through the ChargePoint Network.
All chargers are a part of the ChargePoint Network. Please register with ChargePoint and check the network map to ensure a charger is available before getting on the road.
Time Limit: 4 Hours
There is a 4 hour time limit for parking at an EV charging station for those customers that are using a parking permit. For those paying for parking through a Pay Station kiosk, there is no time limit. All customers must initiate a charging session through the adjacent ChargePoint station (the spaces are designed for EV charging, not simply EV parking).
Access and Parking Instructions for Visitors
Parking Structure 1: Use the “Visitor Parking” entrance. Make a left turn after the gate, take the next left and then turn left again at the second aisle. The EV charging station is at the end of the aisle. There is no time limit at this location.
Parking Structure 9: Drive up to the Westwood Plaza Information Kiosk and tell the attendant you would like to purchase a daily permit for Parking Structure 9 to use the EV charging station. When the 4 hour time limit has been reached, move your vehicle to an available parking stall within PS 9.
Parking Structures 5 and 32: Drive directly to the EV charging station. Purchase parking at the Pay Station kiosk by the hour or for the entire day. If you park and one of these charging locations and pay for parking at the Pay Station kiosk, you are not subject to the 4 hour time limit.
Access and Parking Instructions for UCLA Permit Holders
Clean Fuel Permit
If you meet DMV requirements for a White Clean Air Decal and are otherwise eligible for a UCLA parking permit, you can purchase a Clean Fuel Permit for $60/month to replace your existing permit. A Clean Fuel Permit allows you to park at any EV charging station for up to 4 hours without paying any additional cost for parking (you must still pay to charge the vehicle). Your gate access card will be automatically programmed to allow access to the PS 1 staff entrance and PS 9 (PS 5 and PS 32 do not have gate access). When you have completed your charging session, you should move your vehicle to its assigned parking area.
Please note: Starting Jan. 1, 2015, the price of a Clean Fuel Permit will be $63/month.
Other UCLA Permit Holders
If you do not have a Clean Fuel Permit, you can obtain a cross-parking/transfer permit from any information kiosk, which will count toward your rolling 3 month limit of three transfers. After your 4 hour limit is reached, you will have to move your vehicle out of the charging stall and into a permit parking space within the same structure.
Bruin Commuter Club (BCC) Members
If you are a Bruin Commuter Club member, you can use your BCP privilege for parking at an EV charging location. You can obtain a BCP permit for Parking Structure 1, 5, 9 or 32 from any information kiosk. After your 4 hour limit is reached at the EV space, you will have to move your vehicle out of the charging stall and into a permit parking space within the same structure.
