Alternative Fuel Vehicle

September 12, 2013

UCLA Fleet offers alternative fuel vehicles to meet your departmental transportation needs. Customers can now select from Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) hybrid vehicles and Low Speed Vehicle to help the University meet environmental mandates and clean air initiatives from federal, State of California, and local agencies. You can even request an Alternative Fuel Vehicle for your next Daily Rental need!

Why switch to vehicles powered by alternative fuels?

According to the US Department of Energy, emissions from the 200 million cars and trucks on US roads – mostly hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, and carbon monoxide – account for about 50% of all air pollution and more than 80% of urban air pollution. Driving alternative fueled vehicles could reduce the level of vehicle emissions, and choosing domestically produced alternative fuels - instead of imported oil – could help reduce the trade deficit, create jobs and promote economic activity.

UCLA Fleet continually monitors the availability of new-state-of-the-art Alternative Fuel Vehicles to meet the needs of our customers.
